We are currently seeking to fill the following role(s):

Special Projects Coordinator | Department: Research and Innovation 

The SCSU i-HUB is seeking a highly motivated individual with experience in mentoring students seeking jobs and internships, building and advancing relationships with strategic partners, and grant writing to help take our team to the next level.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Lead career coaching for STEM students interested in job and internship opportunities 
  2. Support external relations with community and industry partners 
  3. Support grant reporting and fundraising efforts 
  4. Support building and advancing relationships with on-campus partners, especially the Office of Career and Professional Development and the Office of Sustainability/IAF 
  5. Support the development and (fall) implementation of engagements with undergraduate and graduate students (e.g., Career Fairs and “meet and greets”)
  6. Support brand role out for SCSU Innovation HUB

Secondary Roles

  1. Support day-to-day management of the SCSU i-Hub, Innovation Camp, and IRWECA 
  2. Support ordering supplies and tracking grant spending 
  3. Support revision and dissemination of industry needs assessment 
  4. Support on-boarding efforts for new team members

Qualifications

Applicants must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, culturally competent, creative problem-solving skills, and an ability to lead high-level group projects with limited supervision in a tactful, strategic, and professional manner. The chosen candidate should be well versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

A technical degree at the Bachelors level or above with 2 or more years of relevant experience including mentoring students, technical communication, and external relations is strongly preferred; additionally, those with background and experience in STEM and Education are also highly encouraged to apply. Furthermore, applicants must be cultural competent as well as interested in helping students and having a positive impact on Southern and the community more broadly.

Schedule

Candidates must be available to work over 75% of their time during normal business hours (8:30am – 5:00pm, Monday-Friday). This position will involve a combination of remote work as well as in-person events and meetings, some of which will be off-site.

Compensation commensurate with experience plus retirement benefits for 35 or more hours per week through June 30, 2025. This is a grant-funded position with possibility of contract extension contingent on performance and availability of grant funds.
